Started with Gofrugal

Since 2009 (as Simple Software Services); formally founded Simple Retail Solutions in 2017

A journey rooted in software and process

Dhairya Shah's journey with Gofrugal began back in 2009 through a former software venture. With a growing need to exclusively focus on retail ERP solutions, he established Simple Retail Solutions in 2017-right when India's GST wave transformed the software landscape.

What sets them apart? From day one, the company has steered clear of hardware, doubling down on software, solutions, and customer education. Over the years, they've worked with businesses of all shapes and sizes-department stores, supermarkets, restaurants, mobile and computer stores, and more.

Why Gofrugal?

“Other solutions were either accounting-focused or limited to one vertical. Gofrugal was the only one that understood retail in all its forms.”

Dhairya Shah,

Proprietor, Simple Retail Solutions, Ahmedabad

For a partner catering to a multi-vertical market, Gofrugal's flexibility and depth made it a perfect match. Their legacy with Gofrugal's products was strong, but Shah always advocated for pushing toward modern cloud-based offerings, knowing how rapidly customer expectations were changing.

Retail tech - Then and now

The team has seen the market evolve-especially the way customers view billing software. What was once seen as a basic utility is now expected to be a full-scale solution for sales, inventory, accounting, and customer engagement.

“Customers don't just want billing-they want control, reporting, and business growth. They don't always know what to ask for, so it's our job to guide them.”

Dhairya Shah,

Proprietor, Simple Retail Solutions, Ahmedabad

They've also noted the rise of SaaS-based players offering per-user, low-cost subscriptions-bringing urgency for robust yet simple cloud-first ERP models in the Indian market.

Biggest win: A 72-hour miracle for Amul Green & Amul Foodland

One of the most defining and high-pressure moments for Simple Retail Solutions was the onboarding and full implementation for Amul Green and Amul Foodland, two ambitious retail ventures launched by Amul's Dairy Division. Traditionally known for its dairy dominance, Amul was entering direct retail for the first time-with both a supermarket and a quick-service restaurant model. This made the project a high-stakes, high-visibility opportunity.

The challenge

Amul began their retail journey preparations as early as April 2016, planning to go live in October of that year. Over a month and a half, they evaluated over 50 vendors, seeking a robust and scalable retail management solution. Initially, Amul awarded the project to another vendor based on cost-choosing a solution that quoted only one-fifth of what Gofrugal and Simple Retail Solutions had offered.

However, that decision backfired. As the launch date neared, the selected vendor failed to meet the delivery commitments, jeopardizing Amul's scheduled grand opening.

The turning point

On October 25, 2016, just three days before launch, Shah received an unexpected call from Amul's General Manager, urgently asking,

“What are you doing tomorrow? We need to go live immediately.”

The team from Simple Retail Solutions realized they were being asked to rescue the launch at the last moment. With zero buffer time, Shah and his core team mobilized overnight-packing their bags and heading straight to the site.

The execution

From October 26 to 28, Shah and his team worked round the clock to configure, implement, and go live with Gofrugal's full stack:

  • Supermarket billing & POS
  • Restaurant/KOT operations
  • Inventory management
  • Recipe management
  • Outlet-level integrations
  • Full HQ connectivity

The result? Both Amul Green (supermarket) and Amul Foodland (restaurant) went live flawlessly on the scheduled date, October 29th, with all systems operational.

The impact

  • This heroic implementation won Amul's confidence instantly.
  • What began as a two-store implementation quickly evolved into a long-term, high-growth engagement.
  • Today, Amul Green and Amul Foodland are part of a network of over 50+ outlets managed via Gofrugal, fully integrated with HQ and centralized controls.
  • The implementation also unlocked further business with Amul Colour and Amul Cafe-all of which are now Gofrugal users via Simple Retail Solutions.

This wasn't just a software deployment-it was a defining moment that proved Shah's leadership, the agility of his team, and the process discipline that Simple Retail Solutions has built over the years.

“Going live for a retail giant like Amul, that too in just three days, wasn't just about technology. It was about process, trust, and staying calm under pressure,” said Shah.

What made it possible? A team that understood the customer's business inside out. A solution that could adapt quickly without layers of complexity. And a clear implementation framework that made even a multi-location launch feel seamless.

Behind the scenes, the tech worked like clockwork. The real effort lay in aligning the right people, processes, and expectations-something Shah and his team have mastered. Gofrugal's platform enabled them to scale fast with zero friction, turning a last-minute SOS into a success story worth repeating.

What makes Simple Retail Solutions stand out

  • Deep process orientation: Inspired by Gofrugal's structured way of working, they've built their own internal process templates, making implementations consistent and scalable.
  • Customer-first consultation: They never push a standard product. Instead, they ask questions to understand the customer's vision and tailor the solution accordingly.
  • Post-sale engagement: Their real strength lies in cross-selling and upselling after implementation-whether it's GoSure, HQ, additional outlets, or reporting tools.
  • Strong customer retention & referrals: Many customers reach out to them after trying other vendors first-because word of mouth about their depth of service travels fast.

Vertical focus: Department stores & supermarkets

Inventory issues are the biggest pain point in these sectors. Simple Retail Solutions goes beyond implementation by:

  • Auditing and guiding inventory structuring.
  • Helping generate intelligent reports.
  • Training teams on data-driven decision-making.

Their advisory mindset makes them a go-to for long-term support-even for customers who've already bought Gofrugal elsewhere.

Their mantra for new partners

“Invest time in understanding the product, the customer's history, and their business vision. You'll win trust-and referrals-for life.”
